You need to be 17 or over when you arrive in Ghana. You can apply when you are 16 if you will be 17 upon arrival. If you are under 18 you will require your parents permission.
Yes and we will make sure you are in the same accommodation and on the same projects, all you need to do is arrive and depart on the same flights.
Yes, the majority of our volunteers volunteer by themselves and you’ll meet other volunteers via our online group forums and when you arrive.

You will need to complete an application form here. Once you have applied we will respond within 5 working days (if you do not hear from us please email us). If your application is successful you’ll be able to confirm your place via the link in your acceptance email, once you’ve confirmed your place you’ll have access to your volunteer area, be able to use your online fundraising page and be able to meet other volunteers on your trip.

Yes, we require all volunteers to meet the minimum sponsorship amount 4 weeks before they depart as it is this money that pays for everything from your airport transfers, accommodation, food, transport & project materials. It also contributes to the running costs of Thrive Africa.
Volunteers who purchase the excursion package are provided with shared internet access via laptops in our accommodation. If you bring an unlocked phone you can also purchase credit for internet access on your phone.
Yes, all food is prepared in our accommodation by our kitchen staff and we can cater for most dietary requirements. You can email us to check if you wish and when you arrive you just need to make kitchen staff aware of your requirements.
Yes, as long as we have space on the trip you wish to join we can transfer you on to any other trip. We can also defer your place to the following year if something comes up and you can’t volunteer this year.
No, please apply for your first choice, if it is no longer available you will be offered a place on other trips with availability.

No flights are to be purchased by volunteers. You will find helpful information in your volunteer area which you are given access to after registering.

Yellow fever is the only legally required vaccination. We recommend speaking to your Doctor/GP on what vaccinations they advise as we are unable to provide medical advice.
No the excursion package is optional, however, almost all volunteers choose to purchase it as it is provided at cost price and most volunteers wish to join their group on evening and weekend activities.
We calculate the cost at the beginning of each year and then provide details via your volunteer area, we aim to keep the cost as low as possible while trying to include as much as possible. In previous years the price has been around £200/$300 which includes Accommodation, Transport, Entrance fees, Activities etc. for a 3 or 4 week trip.
All 3 & 4 week trips have enough time to partake in all excursions, 2 week trips will usually miss Mole National Park & Paga Crocodile Pond as they are to far to travel within the 2 week trip.
